I am sure you have noticed that prom is just around the corner. Finding the perfect prom dress is not always the easiest thing to do, but on the other hand it can be a lot of fun. It’s not every day that you get to spend more than usual on a really fancy dress and also buy matching shoes and accessories!
There are several different types of prom dresses on the market, which can make the decision a bit overwhelming. I really love high neck dresses because they look so classy and feminine. Mesh sweetheart necklines are a true classic, whereas high neck dresses with cute lace and embellished details are sure to highlight your face. A high neck dress is also a good choice if you want to balance out a rather short dress.
Another type of dress where the emphasis is on top is the strapless bustier dress. These dresses are very flattering on every woman’s bust and midsection. I can also recommend a dress with an asymmetrical neckline, especially if you have a curvy body. Personally, I would exercise caution with the momentarily very trendy cut out dresses. These flirty dresses tend to show a bit too much skin, and might be more suited for the after party.
When searching for a dress that suits one well, one should also ask questions such as: what’s my best asset? Which part of my body do I like best? If you have a petite figure, then you might not want to wear a floor-length gown as you may get lost in the fabric! When it comes to colour, I would say anything goes and black is, of course, a true classic.
Do not forget to accessorise! An elegant statement necklace will look great with a strapless dress. A big cocktail ring or a sparkly bracelet will add a touch of glamour to any prom outfit… just be sure not to wear too much jewellery and remember that your dress should be the centre of attention! Prom is also the perfect occasion for a chic clutch as this tiny accessory will give your look some extra glam.
The most important thing is the feeling you have while wearing your prom dress. If you feel glamorous, sexy, sophisticated and confident, then it could be the right dress. So have any of you found the right prom dress yet?
