I’ve tried so many lip balms over the years and I have to admit that most of them have been somewhat disappointing. All you want is a quick fix for dry, chapped lips, but most of them just seem to make things worse. My solution? I make my own. When you make your own lip balm you know exactly what you’re putting on your lips and it’s not any more expensive than buying lip balm. And most importantly: sore and dry lips will be a thing of the past.
So, in order to make your own lip balm you will need:
1 tsp. grated beeswax
2 tsp. coconut oil
This will be enough for a great basic lip balm. You can add other things like Vitamin E oil, honey, a bit of old lipstick or blush for colour, edible glitter…. Or anything else that tickles your fancy. Be creative : – )
Heat your ingredients on the stove or in the microwave. Make sure you stir the mixture regularly. Once everything is heated up and mixed together well, fill everything into a container of your choice immediately (you can use old lip balm containers that have been cleaned thoroughly). Now all you need to do is wait until your lip balm cools off and hardens. It’s that simple! Homemade lip balm also makes a great birthday gift for a friend!
Enjoy making your own lip balm and let me know if you have any other great ideas : – )
