NAME: CHARLIE LEWIS
OCCUPATION: SEO & ONLINE MARKETING
Hey ladies, welcome back to Street Style! I’m really excited about today’s feature, as I have been so obsessed with her blog for quite a while now. Lurch Hound Loves is a fantastic personal style blog written by Charlie Lewis, which features her killer sense of style as well as frequent sneak appearances by her rescued Lurcher and Woflhound cross, Brody. Charlie really has a gift for creating versatile outfits: her style is refined yet also sexy and edgy enough that the majority of her outfits can make the transition from day to night seamlessly. I find her style so inspirational – I can never look at her blog without lusting after some outfit or item or another – which is why I’m so happy to have her here on Street Style!
Who/ what inspired you to start your blog?
One of my favourite things to do is write and as I work in the SEO and social world of digital marketing I wanted to combine my passion of the online world with my loves and interests: so what better way than to write my own fashion & style blog with some home and beauty mixed in?
Inspiration for the blog name came from my rescued Lurcher/Wolfhound Brody and I am keen to start doing more lifestyle or pet posts, with a fashion twist of course!
What do you think is the major force behind today’s trends?
I think that vintage and thrift shopping has an influence on trends today. In the fashion world it seems that ‘what goes around comes around’ and old trends are constantly being updated with a twist; I think a mix of vintage and high-street and putting your own stamp on the trends is the best way to own them.
If you could have back any article of clothing from your childhood (re-sized to fit you now, of course), what would it be?
It would have to be my full-length denim dungarees! This year I have only dipped my toe into the trend with a short pair of denim dungarees, but to have my old 90’s pair back, I would be one happy bunny with a crop top and scrunchie.
What’s the one accessory you couldn’t do without?
Statement Necklaces! These have been my most bought accessory of 2013. I love how one amazing chunky or detailed necklace can bring a plain outfit to life or add a pop of colour to monochrome get ups: I now feel naked if I leave the house without one!
What do you think is the most daring fashion-leap you’ve ever made?
Going from Tomboy to Girly: as a youngster I was always a tomboy and opted for popper Adidas tracksuit pants rather than a skirt (on which I now look back and cringe, but we all had a pair right?!) until I hit my late teens and realised that I should probably own a pair of heels and a skirt! I think that was one of the best decisions I ever made lol although I still feel a bit out of place in mega girly styles!
